Announcing Field Sources
An environmental source desk
Environmental stories are undercovered in part because the experts are hard to find. Naturalists, science communicators, curriculum designers, field educators, and community-based practitioners do work directly relevant to the stories journalists are pursuing—but they don’t appear in the usual source databases and usually don’t have communication specialists on staff.
Field Sources is a curated roster of environmental and sustainability practitioners who have agreed to be available to journalists.
Why Field Sources?
Journalists are told to learn what is happening in their topic area and to take note of who might be a reference some day. Field Sources and its Field Briefings, the live sessions it hosts, create the conditions for this opportunity.
Connections are made through purposeful conversation and a Q&A. Field Briefings are face-to-face virtual exchanges with cameras on to build trust. They are not recorded and last 30 minutes.
