TALATERRA Ethics Statement
TALATERRA's editorial practices are guided by the Code of Ethics of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). The following statements describe how those principles are applied in practice.
Editorial Independence
TALATERRA does not currently carry sponsors, funders, or advertisers in its newsletter or publications. When an affiliate link appears, it is clearly marked as such. Commissions earned through affiliate programs are used to sustain TALATERRA and its work. No sponsor, funder, advertiser, or affiliate partner is granted access to subscriber or customer information.
Accuracy and Corrections
Mistakes are acknowledged and corrected publicly.
Source Treatment and Attribution
Quoted material is confirmed for accuracy. When questions arise, the source is contacted directly for clarification. Published sources are cited by name, with references provided in a Literature Cited section or footnote. Information shared with TALATERRA is fact-checked before publication.
Conflicts of Interest
Professional relationships relevant to published content are disclosed publicly.
Privacy
Subscriber contact information is not shared or sold. Payment information is held in strict confidence. All customer information remains private.
Community Standards
TALATERRA's community gatherings operate under clear expectations: participants treat each other with respect, make space for others to speak, and listen carefully before asking clarifying questions. Also, participants are reminded to critique the work, not the person.
Use of AI Tools
AI tools are used for spelling, grammar, and sentence structure review, and for administrative tasks such as notetaking and organizing datasets. Claude is used as a thinking tool and editorial sounding board. AI tools are not used to produce original editorial content on TALATERRA's behalf.
TALATERRA is woman-owned and independently operated.
