‘Freelance Isn’t Free' Act
Payment in 30 days, noncompete agreements and more
In January 2025, Freelancers Union celebrated another milestone with the Freelance Isn't Free Act, legislation that addresses non-payment issues. This milestone was achieved when the act went into effect in California. Advocacy on this issue naturally opens the door to conversations about other topics. What are these topics?
You can learn more about them by using the interactive map on the Freelancers Union website to see what they are and how they are discussed (or not) across the country. When you click on a state, you'll find a link that makes it easy to share your perspective and write to elected officials in your state. Please double-check the situation in your state in case the map has not been updated.
